Developer API?

I'm working on a program that will need to store a username and password. Of course, I can use the OS X default keychain[1] for this, but I thought it might be nice to offer 1Password integration. I've looked at the website, and searched these forums, but I don't see anything that indicates such a thing would be possible. Do you plan to offer some sort of framework that developers can include so that they can offer 1Password integration with their applications?

    Hi James,

Thanks for your interest in using 1Password for your app's credential storage, at the moment that's not possible, and as far as I'm aware we have no plans to provide APIs for access to the 1Password data file, there would be a lot of security concerns to consider here and it's not really where our focus is.

I agree that the security of such a feature would be tricky, but that doesn't make it impossible. Oh well, default OS keychain only it is then.

    James,

If it's a web app, then make sure the fields are set up cleanly and at least people who are using 1Password will be able to store their login info. If it's a local app, 1Password has never had the ability to pass login information to anything but a web page so it wouldn't work anyway.

We wish you the best of luck with your new application.

    Thanks,
