Hi,

everytime I restart Firefox the 1Password-ext is not installed anymore / gets uninstalled. Tried both with the latest stable and the beta. Is this a FF-problem or a 1P related one?

    Hi Michael,

There is a known issue where Firefox will remove the 1Password button from the toolbar if you have told Firefox to "Show my windows and tabs from last time" but quit Firefox with no windows or tabs open.

To restore the 1Password button in this case, simply open a tab or window in Firefox and then quit the browser. The next time you launch Firefox the 1Password button will be back in the toolbar.

Does that help? Please let me know.

I didn't set this setting. I set firefox to start with a fixed homepage. And the button also disappears when I quit FF with one or more tabs opened.

    Cheers,

    Hi Michael,

What about your privacy settings? Is it set to always use the private browsing mode?

Can you take a screenshot of your privacy settings in Firefox for me.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks!

    Hi Khad,

no, I'm not using the private mode, see screenshot attached.

Maybe one of the other installed AddOns is causing the problem ....

    Hi Michael,

That's certainly possible, some of our users confirmed that a few extensions would push it off the toolbar such as Profile Switcher.

Do you use multiple profiles in Firefox or just one?

Could you try disabling all extensions and leave 1Password enabled via the Tools Menu > Addons > Extensions in Firefox and then restart Firefox a few times to see if that'll improve it.

Please let me know how it turns out.

    Thanks!

I've tested by disabling the Add-Ons but the problem still appears. :( I noticed that when I add or remove an Add-On with the next restart 1P is present again. But then after one of the next restarts it isn't anymore.

Again: is there any kind of log I could dig in?

    Hi Michael,

There aren't any logs that's saved to the disk for situations like this. Most of the extension's logs are generated on the fly when you first open the browser.

Since it has been a while after we last talked, have you already updated to Firefox 8? This has been confirmed to fixed the icon disappearing issue for many of our customers.

If not, the best place to get the logs is to load the Error console after Firefox starts without 1Password present, since they are generated on the fly. To do that, go to the Tools Menu > Web Developer > Error Console and see if there are any strange errors in there from 1Password. There are some known errors such as undefined $ and sjcl, beside that, do you see any errors?

If you do, please take a screenshot and post it here.

    Thanks!

Yes, I'm working the latest FF-release.

    I'll try that, thx.

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for letting me about the Firefox version. Could you tell me where do you place your 1Password button, is it next to the address bar or somewhere else, like the add-on bar on the bottom?

    Please let me know.

    Thanks!

    Hi Michael,

One of our customers reported he noticed the icon disappearing more often if he was tearing tabs into a new window. Can you tell me if you do that a lot?

I noticed on the Mac, when you tear a tab into a new window, the 1Password button moved elsewhere. Can you confirm that for me?

nope, I usually use only one window with several tabs.

I just tested and can confirm that issue. The 1p-button gets moved next
to the "home" button - it was beyond the home-button before.

We appreciate your patience while we try to track this issue down for you Michael. I can assure you that this is not at all the norm, and appears to be something unique with your system / configuration.

It sounds like your 1Password installation may be damaged. This can affect its ability to start properly as well as its integration with web browsers. To resolve this:

    1. Visit the 1Password download page:
      http://agilebits.com/downloads
    2. Click on the "Download Now" button under "1Password 3"
    3. Quit your web browser and 1Password, if it's running
    4. Drag the newly downloaded version of 1Password to the same location as any previous one -- replacing it
    5. Run 1Password at least once and then your web browser

Your information is stored in a data file separate from the application, so it will not be harmed by this procedure.

    Thanks.
    Ben

    Hi Ben,

seems like I missed the info-mail about your answer which I see only now.

I updated my 1P several times the last weeks with no success regarding this issue, but thanks for your tip anyway.

Maybe some news which might be important for you: 1P doesn't get unilnstalled which was my first guess but gets kind of turned off within FF. I now deal with this issue by just de- and then reactivating the Plugin within FF. Then 1P is working again and I don't have to restart FF which saves some time.

Would be great if you inform me when you have some news on this some day. For now I don't want to bother you anymore as you sad this prob is kind of very rare.

Thx for your great support until now! :)

Since the last correspondence back in December, we have released a beta version of the 1Password extension for Firefox which I believe may help with your issue.

First, please ensure that Firefox is up to date with the latest version (10.0.2).

Then, please try switching to the beta version of the Firefox extension. The instructions below contain some very specific steps. The extension will not work unless you follow them carefully. Please follow them carefully. :)

    1. In Firefox, select Tools > Add-ons from the menu bar.
    2. Click the Remove button to remove the 1Password extension.
    3. Quit Firefox.
    4. In Finder, select Go > Go to Folder from the menu bar.
    5. Copy and paste the following path and press Return:

      ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles

    6. Move the OnePassword.sqlite file you see there to the desktop.

Once everything is working well, you can safely move the OnePassword.sqlite file on the desktop to the trash.

Install the beta version of the Firefox extension from this link:

    https://agilebits.com/extensions/mac/firefox.html?beta=y

Please let me know how it goes.

If you're still having trouble, could you please attach a Diagnostics Report to your reply?

In 1Password 3.8, just select Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report from the menu bar.

If you are using 1Password 3.9 (from the Mac App Store), you'll need to follow the instructions here:

    http://support.agilebits.com/kb/troubleshooting/create-a-diagnostic...

Then attach the entire file to your reply to the private discussion on our support site:

    http://support.agilebits.com/discussions/1password-38-for-mac-from-...

Once we see the report we should be able to help more. Thank you in advance!
