On one of my iMacs running OS X 10.6.8, the 1Password toolbar icon has a circle with a "1" inside it located to the upper right of the icon. What does the red circle indicate?

Hi, Hobbes. I'm sorry for the trouble. The badge on the button means that the extension can't connect to the 1Password helper process. Please launch 1Password and choose Help > Troubleshooting > Restart Helper. If you still have trouble, try resetting the folder permissions from the same menu and then restart the helper again.

I hope that helps. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

I am having the same problem, same OS version. I have no "Restart Helper" option in that menu.

    Hey there!

Thank you for contacting us. I am sorry you are having this problem.

It sounds (and looks -- thank you!) like you are running a rather old version of 1Password, which would explain the missing Restart Helper/Agent option as well as why it might be malfunctioning in the first place. Just make sure 1Password is up to date (1Password menu > Check for Updates) and then install the latest Safari extension (1Password menu > Install Browser Extensions) and let me know if this resolves your issue.

Note: The update process will reinstall and restart the Helper/Agent, so there should be no need to do so again. Just make sure you restart your browser.

I hope this helps. If there is anything else we can do for you, please do not hesitate to ask. And, as always, thanks for using 1Password! :)

Yup that did it. With all the auto-updating going on with the plugin, I never thought the application itself was not updating. It was 3.6.5. The problem cleared as soon as the app restarted. Thanks!

    That's great, Jp!

Thanks for the update. I am glad it is working for you now. Maybe someday we will be able to have 1Password update automatically in the background, too, but those downloads are a bit bigger. ;)

If you need anything else, just ask. We are always here to help! :)
