1password won't install from App Store, with error "The product distribution file could not be verified..."
I have used 1P for many years, and rely on it with my Mac, and iPad. Recently I took the plunge and bought it from the Mac App store. Before then I deleted the program and various pieces (except for the database on drop box).
Now at my home computer, everything works fine. But at my work computer I cannot download it from the App Store, instead getting "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed." I did the usual permissions, disk check etc, but it won't install.

Thank you for taking time to contact us.
I have never seen this problem before. The best result I have found so far is this thread on the Apple discussion forums:
https://discussions.apple.com/message/12882636?messageID=12882636&a...
Unfortunately, most of the posts were about OS X 10.6. There was a single solution suggested for Lion:
If you do not might, please also report this problem to Apple, it is important to make sure they know how widespread it is.

Read that before. Tried it, but it didn't help. Next plan is to back up, reinstall Lion and try again. I don't think it is a firewall issue.

I am sorry I couldn't find anything else!
Let me know how it turns out for you.

Worked for me.
My problem folder was the "3_".
Thanks!!!

OK, so here is what finally worked. I took the program from my home computer and brought it to work, dropped it into my Applications folder. Started up the program (which then had me sign in to verify the AppStore purchase) and everything is working now.
It doesn't solve the original problem (Apple couldn't help me either), but this was a workaround.

Hi raykloss. Have you seen this problem with any other application from the Mac App Store? Instead of spending the money to buy something new on your Mac at work, have you tried installing an app you already own from the store's Purchased tab?

Thanks. this worked. In my case the folder was c4. The trick is to figure out in console which folder is the one that has caused the error. Once that happens just go to that folder and delete it. Relaunch the app store and it works. Hope this helps

I had a similar problem, but dug a step deeper. Reading this line in the error message in the Console - thanks for the hint, btw:
Cannot create PKProduct from ""file://localhost/var/folders/1x/3vp012k96g1fpj127wg231nh0000gn/C/co...""
I went all the way down to the folder
"file://localhost/var/folders/1x/3vp012k96g1fpj127wg231nh0000gn/C/co... and deleted two files: preflight.pfpkg and flyingIcon.
There seems to be a lot in the /var/folders-folders, so I didn't want to ruin anything.
But thanks for the hint, the two applications that were teasing me have now downloaded successfully.

I have exactly this situation, and I am unable to d/l Mountain Lion as a result. Having followed the earlier advice, I tracked down the ivar/folder, in my case it was '1k'. THis was deleted, and after a fresh attempt,.... I had the same issue. Trying once more, but this time doing a restart was no better. It certainly d/l to my MacBook Pro, so I know the warning message is bogus - but I cannot find how to d/l a copy of Mountain Lion to a USB stick to install it that way.
Any ideas, please?

Hi Raymond,
If that doesn't work, you'll be best served contacting Apple Support. They would know a lot more about this than we do. Give them a buzz and they should be able to help.
Cheers!
