Question about Auto-lock feature

I could swear I read a similar question, but searched and could not find, so asking: The Auto-lock feature has great options (computer inactivity, sleeping, screen saver), but curiously there is no option for auto-locking when the 1Password application is inactive for a period of time. This omission seems almost deliberate, so I was curious about it. Call me paranoid, but I'd really like an additional option for locking when the application is inactive.

    Hi Joel,

Thanks for taking the time to send us your request. We try to listen to what all users ask for and properly evaluate each one.

From a technical standpoint I'm not entirely sure this is possible. We can obtain information about when the computer is inactive, but I don't know if we can obtain any information about when the application itself is inactive.

We'd also like to keep the options as simple as possible. I think we'll be doing some re-evaluation of many of the options in the future in an attempt to scale down and simplify the many options that are available in 1Password. Perhaps during this re-evaluation we'll find a better set of options that work best.

    Thanks again for the suggestion!

    Cheers!

If it's not technically possible, then that is a very good reason to not have that feature :) Thanks for the quick response.

A comment about you guys scaling down and simplfiying options: please don't remove the existing auto-lock options. I think the current ones are all valuable.

    Joel,

    Thanks for following up.

We don't announce changes far in advance, as things can definitely change as release gets closer. But for what it's worth, I've never heard any discussion about removing the existing auto-lock settings. Again that's no guarantee, but we find them very useful as well. =)

As always, we're happy to help if you have any future questions.

    Take care,
