When clicking on Add Sample Data in Accounts or Identities, actually any of the categories I see progress bar momentarily and then nothing happens. Any idea why? BTW it is on Lion with latest version of 1Passowrd.

Thanks

    Hi Tim,

That's interesting. What version of 1Password is it? (since we have two major versions going simultaneously right now, 3.8 and 3.9)

I'm using 3.8.19, and it fills fine here.

Is there a reason you want Sample Data? I'd suggest just clicking the + button to add a new item and fiddle with it until you're happy :)

Of course, if you have questions about identities (or accounts) let us know, we'll be happy to help with that too.

    Cheers!

    Thank you for the reply.

I was just curious why it worked once and does not anymore.

Should I reinstall it from mac store?

Version 3.9.5 from Mac store running on Lion 10.7.3 with all latest updates.

    Hi Tim,

That's strange that it isn't working. I've tried on 3.9.5 and 3.8.19 and neither of them are exhibiting the behavior you're experiencing.

I wouldn't stress about it unless there are other things not working. If you manually add an identity or account, those work?

    Cheers!

Yes, they do work. It's hard to say if anything else is not working. it seems like everything is in order. Is there any way to manually delete cache and settings. I tried reinstalling and deleted cache using Help/Troubleshooting menu item. That did not help either.

    Thanks.

    Please do the following:

            Add sample account.
            Delete all sample accounts.
            Empty Trash.
            Try to add sample account.

    Please report the result.

    Thanks.

    Hi Tim,

You seem to have found the issue. Well done :)

I'm not sure why this is happening, but, I can most certainly recreate it.

I'll create a bug report for this and perhaps we can get this fixed up.

    Cheers!

Thank you for a quick response.

    Do I get a medal? :)

Could you just verify that integrity of the application is not compromised. I wouldn't think it is, but, taking into account the sensitivity of the info stored and being software developer myself, bugs give me uneasy feeling.

We all know that bugs don't come alone :)

    Thanks.

    Hi Tim,

I wish we had medals to give out. :)

This particular bug hasn't been looked at by a developer yet. But our guess (myself and an experienced coworker) is that this is related to our Tombstone system. Tombstones are a way for us to "keep" items around so that when syncing happens deleted items do not magically get re-added to the data file. We believe the Tombstone for those particular entries is causing the creation issue when "Add Sample Data" is clicked.

I don't believe this will have any bearing on reliability, nor should it compromise any other information.

    Cheers!
