Hi Henri,
I'm sorry you're having trouble here. Could you please try the following:
~/Library/Safari
Drag the Extensions folder and the Databases folder to the Desktop.
Restart Safari and re-install the 1Password extension again. Does this fix the problem? If not, do any other extensions install? You can test from the Safari->Safari Extensions link in the Safari menu bar.
Cheers!

Hello,
Today I upgraded from OSX 10.5.8 to 10.6.8. I am now on Safari 5.1.7 and 1Password 3.8.19. It says that my software is up to date. I get a black or blank screen as per the attached screenshot. I have tried everything from the page referenced in the link below as well from the information of how to simply install both the software and the extension:
http://help.agilebits.com/1Password3/browser_software_conflicts.html
I am now sitting with three extension files on my desktop and all of my other extensions disabled (that, while not many I used as often as 1Password and will have to be found and reinstalled again, and they update no problem. Any of the others that are know to be problems don't show up). Speaking of that, 1Password did not show up to update in Preferences>Extensions after I updated.
The extension is installed in Firefox, although there is no icon in the browser toolbar to be seen as there used to be. I do not want to use Firefox, but I have come to depend on 1Password as it is such a great app. I have it on all of devices!
Thank you.

I was able to get the Safari extension installed by downloading it from Firefox. It does not work by trying to get it from Safari.

Hi Peggy,
That's interesting. It sounds like there is either a cache or other strange issue with your Safari. There's nothing special about our extension from any others.
Did you by chance use Migration Assistant when upgrading from Leopard? Or did you install everything fresh?
Cheers!

Thank you for your response. I did not use Migration Assistant as it was on the same computer. I used the Snow Leopard install disk.
Yours truly,
Peggy Sue

That's very strange, Peggy, I can't recall ever hearing of problems like this, but it could have been something in the update process, one thing I'd suggest checking is is if you can install other Safari extensions from Safari > Safari Extensions.... it's likely this is an issue with Safari itself that you really should get fixed.

I had no problems with the other five extensions that came from the previous OS. They were sitting there in Safari Preferences > Extensions. One had to be updated.
To test your theory minutes ago I added an extension via Safari > Safari Extensions. No problem.
I am confused, though. You say to check if I can install from Safari > Safari Extension. Is the 1Password extension available from the Safari Extensions Gallery? I checked under Productivity, Security and Other and couldn't find it. It seems to me that it would not be found there since the 1Password app is needed to use the extension. So, no, I did not try to install it from Safari > Safari Extensions as it was not there when I went to look for the others.
My route to install the extension/update was from within 1Password > Install Browser Extensions which took me to this link:
https://agilebits.com/extensions/mac/index.html
As I have written previously the download link for Firefox worked in Firefox while the download link for Safari took me to the black screen. Downloading the Safari extension from Firefox to my hard drive and then installing from that file worked. And, it installed with the other extensions already installed. Hence, no conflict with those extensions.
So, I am not sure what to fix in Safari.
Thank you. 1Password is a godsend and I am trying to get others on the bandwagon.

Agreed!
I tried to download it in Safari from the other Safari download locations and those came up with the black screen, too. Weird. Glad I found a workaround.
Now I'm on to migrating all of this onto a new laptop, so Lion, here I come.

This workaround -downloading the safari extension via Firefox worked for me. I tried all the other suggestions; deleting extensions file, running 1password diagnostic, etc. to no avail.
Thanks for this fix!
