Hello 1Password Team! I am currently experiencing issues with your chrome extension. I am using 1Password 3.8.6, Chrome 15.0.874.54 beta, and extension version 3.8.5.31080.

Basically, when opening Chrome and not having used the extension recently, I push the command + \ hotkey and the password window appears on the left side of my screen and freezes. The entire tab is unresponsive. I cannot type in the window, or close the tab. The only thing I can do is quit all of Chrome (sometimes requiring a force quit.) Clicking the 1P in a box seems to work without freezing. Opening another tab after the first one has frozen and using the hotkey works. Any ideas?

Thank you for the update, Patrick! Mark, are you using extension 3.8.8 or the beta 3.8.9b3? If you're using 3.8.8, could you please give the beta extension a try and see if that works better for you? You can install the beta extension from our extensions page, just check the option to allow beta extensions on the right side:

It seems for me that Chome 16 and the latest Beta release of the
plugin resolved the issue of freezing.
One interesting detail: I have never changed the universal unlock
within the plugin. It is/was still enabled.
Could it have been a loop between the plugin and 1passwd(agent) with
    version 3.8.8 (of the plugin)?

    Keep you posted

    Vincent

    Hi Vincent,

Thanks for the update. We're getting a lot of reports that Chrome 16 Beta and 3.9 beta extensions are working much better for a lot of our customers.

We did improve the communication between the extension and the 1Password app in the latest 3.8.12 update, so that might also be it. We made improvements on all fronts basically to make it more robust with Chrome.

Please do keep us posted, we're still working on fixing the rest and any information we can get, we'll be able to help everybody at once.

    Thanks!

Yep, it was with the beta. Have previously tried a new chrome profile too.

    Hey there, Mark!

Since I am not sure which beta you are referring to -- 1Password extension or Chrome browser -- I should point out that the combination of the two is what has seemed to work well for people. Please install the Chrome 16 beta from Google and the 3.8.9 beta extension from our site to see if this resolves the issue you are having.

Please let me know how it turns out! :)

FWIW, setting up a second machine with a new Chrome profile on Chrome
    16.0.912.41 beta, the 1Password Extension (Beta 3.8.9.38903) didn't get
installed via Chrome's extension sync feature.

I've gone ahead and manually installed the extension on the second machine.
     So far, so good.

Thank you for the extra data point, Patrick. It's very helpful.

The developer side of me is upset as I don't know exactly why our changes fixed the issue, or if it was actually fixed on the Chrome side. But the Customer Service side of me is doing a snoopy dance knowing you and others are experiencing success :)

Fingers crossed that it stays this way!

Oh Patrick, I meant to ask: Chrome 16.0.912.63 beta is out now; I think it was built on Tuesday. It's a whooping 22 "thingies" bigger than yours. Does your success continue when updating to the latest?

Chrome 16.0.912.63 beta with extension syncing turned on is working
with 1Password Extension Beta 3.8.9.38903. I'll let you know if it stops
    working at some point.

That's great news because the stable version of Chrome 16 (16.0.912.63) has been released just a few hours ago, I'd recommend everybody to update as soon as possible.

It may not fix your issues but lessen the severity of them at the moment with the 1Password extension. We're still investigating other issue with a few other users.

    Hi guys,

We just released an update to our Beta extension for Chrome that may fix some of your freezing issues but we need you to test it to confirm. We added an option to disable a specific animation. There is an old Chrome bug where some animations can freeze certain tabs.

To update to this latest Beta Chrome extension:

    1. First, update 1Password by opening the main 1Password app and go to the 1Password Menu > Check for Updates
    2. After the update is installed, open Chrome and right click on the 1Password button to select Uninstall
    3. Open 1Password and go to the 1Password Menu > Install Browser Extensions, it'll take you to our extension setup page and then check Allow Beta Extension on the right. Press the Download button next to Chrome and then follow its instruction to install the extension.

After you do that, please open 1Password in Chrome, go to Settings > About 1Password and click on the 1Password Logo. It'll show you advanced settings and then uncheck "Enable animations". Here's the video of it in action.

After that, lock 1Password and restart Chrome. See if you can reproduce this now.

I hope this helps, please let me know how it turns out.

    Thanks!
