Will 4.0 and 3.8 be able to share data?

I have an iMac running Lion and a first-gen MBP running Snow Leopard. I currently run 1Password on each machine (plus an iPad) using Dropbox to sync. The MBP cannot run Lion, so it will stay as a Snow Leopard machine. The KB says that data can be shared between 3.8 and 3.9. Will the same be true of 3.8 and 4.0? I don't want to switch to the MAS version if it will orphan my MBP installation.

    HI Barry,

I certainly understand your situation, at the moment we haven't finalised the details 1Password 4.x, we do plan to move to a new data format to improve security and give us more flexibility but as of yet we haven't decided if we'll be able to bring this to 1Password 3.8.x.

I'm sorry I can't give you a more definitive answer at the moment, when we know more we'll be able to share the details as we feel it appropriate.

Any word yet on whether 3.8 and 4.0 will be able to share data? I would like to take advantage of the current sale price, but I won't be upgrading if I can't keep my machines in sync.

    Hi Barry,

We do hope to bring the same data format that will be available in 1Password 4 to 1Password 3.

    Thanks.
    Ben
